Error Message After Virus Scan

Hello,

I need some help! I ran Dr.Web's scanner which detected 19 viruses. I left it to run last night because it took so long. This morning I have many error messages that reads: "windows was unable to save all the data for the file C:\$Extend\$UsnJrnl:$J. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere" my only option is to click "ok" but when i do it the message stays there. I am unable to do anything. I can see the scanner in the background and its finished but I can't get to it around this message.
fyi I ran this scanner because my microsoft scanner picked up a backdoor virus....ugh!

please help!

Hi,

It seems like you have a hdd issue. Please check your hdd's health status with one of your hdd manufacture's tools. I highly recommend you back up anything important on that drive.

now it won't let me do any thing....no cursor either! I can see it along the edge of the screen...but thats it! I'm screwed~

I messaged Dr. Web support as suggested above....does anybody know how long until they reply?

Response time can be vary. Until you get a reply, i would like to help you.

i believe you have an hardware issue rather than a software. To prove this could you download hdtune? This program will help us to determine if you have a hdd issue or bad sector issue.

Please follow my instructions for using hdtune.
  • Run hdtune
  • Please select which hdd you would like to test from drop down menu
  • There are tabs, please choose Error Scan tab
  • Please click on Start button (don't choose quick scan)
  • Wait for results, at the right top corner of hdtune there are icons, please click on save screenshot icon and save the scanning result's image.
  • Please attach it here to your next post

P.S: That is a good idea to give this thread link to support team of dr.web.

I added the screen shot after running HD Tune and it appears that the hdd is ok.
Any other suggestions?

  • Open command prompt. If you use windows 7, run command prompt as administrator.
  • Type sfc /scannow, press Enter, wait for scanning complete and post the command prompt screenshot here after scan complete.
  • Or you can attach the scanning result's log file to your next post which is located %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log
