I am currently using the instructions provided here to get rid of a nasty case of Virut on my Windows XP. I am on step #9, and I am encountering a problem: For some odd reason, when I click on the C Drive in a custom scan, the red dot does not show up on the drive, but it rather selects it as one would select text. :) This is the first time that I have ever used Dr.WEB, so it could easily be due to some mistake of mine. Is it due to my inexperience, a faulty installation, or something else?

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Disk scanning is started when you have chosen the Drive C: and click on the scan button?

Unfortunately not. The Start button remains greyed out.

Also, when I run other antivirus programs, they cannot find the C:/ Drive either

Does that mean that the entire drive has been deleted? :)

It is difficult to me to assume it. In the Explorer a disk С: is present? Files in him are?

Explorer shows the existence of a C Drive, but there are no files within it. When I click on Properties, it says that 0/0 bytes are being used :)

I suspect I've found what's going on; when I double-click C:, it tells me the "C:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unavailable." Is it possible to recover C:? :)

Sure. But I need to have a look at it.

Zero sized partition is usually a logical problem with file system :) It couldn't be fixed with Cureit

You see...

Does virut infect boot sector?

What do you mean? Remote Access? I've never used that before, so you're going to have to tell me what to do :)

When I clicked that link and selected Download, it took me here: ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/livecd/
Not sure what I'm supposed to do...
