Doctor Web notifies all users about a mass mailing of messages
exploiting the forthcoming St. Valentine’s Day. The message contains a
link to a web-site where a user is lured inito downloading of a
malicious program detected by Dr.Web as Trojan.Spambot.4266 also known
as Waledac.
When the user gets to the web-site, he is prompted to click on one of
nice Valentine hearts and initiate downloading of the Trojan. [IMAGE]
The aim of the virus makers is creation of another botnet. The Trojan
file downloaded from the bogus web-site is updated regularly. However,
new modifications of the Trojan are added to the Dr.Web virus database
promptly.
As the St. Valentine Day draws closer, Doctor Web recommends all users
to be careful and make sure that you know origins of a Valentine
greeting you receive.
