Hi,

Yesterday I download a trial version of the latest Dr. Web Security Space.

After reinstalling to finish the installation, and upon login in, my computer was kinda frozen.

  • I was unable to open any documents on my desktop.
  • Right-click over any folder/document did nothing.
  • The mouse was responsive as usual, but I was unable to open any explorer windows, including the start menu
  • Shutting down took forever, but start up occurred at normal speed.

I was forced to use a system restore to a point before Dr.Web installation.

Is there something that I can do to fix this?

I have malwarebytes premium, and sandboxie installed. Are they know to cause problems? Sandboxie asked me to add Dr.Web to some sort of exclusions.

I am running Windows 7 - 64 bits.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks

Them or another piece of software. Sounds like you may have WinKeeper installed, don't you?

No, I do not have WinKeeper.

Are you suggesting that removing malwarebytes and and sandboxie could solve the issue?

I think it worth trying at least.

Removed both and installed Dr.Web.
The system is working fine now. I will try to reinstall Malwarebytes since I have a paid license for it, and see if it works.

Is there a list of know incompatible programs with Dr.Web?

If your antivirus installs low-level (kernel mode) drivers, it could be incompatible with Dr.Web (and most of others AV-products). As a rule, any AV product (including Dr.Web) should be installed alone. Otherwise, results may be unpredictable.

Malwarebytes os not an antivirus. It's meant to be a second opinion scanner. Not exactly a full antivirus.

Scanners "on demand", like MBAM and others, typically don't install kernel drivers, as mentioned above. Thus, MBAM and Dr.Web can coexist without any problems.

Okay, the problem resurfaced. Everything seemed okay, but then bam! the freezing begin again.

I had to uninstall Dr.Web, this time I used the uninstaller in safe mode. But it left me without an internet connection. So I had to use a restore point again.

I don't think Mbam or Sandboxie were the culprits.

Is there a list of know compatibility problems?

I am also using VBox and VMWorkstation that are bridged to my Local Network Adaptar. Since I lost internet after uninstalling, I am not sure if there could be some sort of relation here.

1. Which components of Security Space had been installed?

2. Try to reinstall Dr.Web, but select _only_ SpiderGuard, Scanner and Updater components during setup. Don't install others.

3. If the problem reappears, notice the time when it appears (HH:MM:SS), collect the data (click on Dr.Web icon in the tray, Tools - Support - Report for technical support),  and upload a logs here. Don't forget about time in comments.

1. Didn't install Parental Control, Outlook ad-dons, and SPAM filters.

2. I will try your suggestion.

3. If the problem reapers the tray icon for Dr.Web doesn't respond. I can move it across the tray are, but it won't respond. Pretty much like everything else won't respond either.

I have the logs folder from before, is there anything there that could be useful ?
