Hello.

 

Just yesterday I got Dr. Web Security Space and I have one thing I'm not comfortable with. Some may even consider it nitpicking or whatever.

 

When I right-click an object to open the context menu and scan it, it only shows the Dr. Web icon and not the text next to it?

 

I'm using English language on the program and running Finnish Windows 7.

Hmm... Try to check the following keys in Windows registry:

I'm gonna list where each key is placed at:

 

1. This I can find where I assume it should be and the value is correct. Though I can find it in many other folders.

 

2. I can find this at:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{035B18F9-A217-44d5-91C9-B682C33C1078}

and

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{E7593602-124B-47C9-9F73-A69308EDC973}

 

3. Should be okay but again I can find it in HKEY_LOCAL_ROOT for example.

 

4. Is there but same as the others before. It's in other folders as well.

 

5. Can find it but is at:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved

Wow... It's important thing! 32-bit and 64-bit systems are different, so it's the source of troubles )) for users and developers... ) Well, let's unregister appropriate DLL and try to register it again (read the following article before: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282747 ):

Go to the Program Files\Drweb folder.

Run these 2 commands as Administrator:
regsvr32 /u drwsxtn.dll
regsvr32 drwsxtn.dll

Oops... drwsxtn64.dll, of course...

Hint: use 64-bit systems ONLY if you REALLY need it! ))

Alright I unregistered and registered the .dll. Both times I got a confirmation that it was successful.

...But still no text in context menu? One of the possible reason: Dr.Web checks OS language and try to choose appropriate language for context menu. You may open drwsxtn64.dll (via FAR, Total Commander or just Notepad, but don't save it!) and find these text strings. If there is no string "Check with Dr.Web" (but in Finnish), you probably found the reason. Also you may add your own strings into Explorer's context menu (there are a lot of freeware programs fot it), so you may add command "dwscanner.exe /OK /HA /AR /AC /SCN /SPN %s", this command runs when you click on the context menu.

Right, so after the .DLL registering the text did not appear in the context menu. Even rebooted PC but still nothing.

 

Looking at the drwsxtn64.dll via Notepad, I can find the text string in many other languages but not Finnish.

Doctor Web program is has Finnish localization?

That does not seem to be the case. Just checked the Language settings.

If there is no Finnish localization of the product, it uses the language of the operating system. OS Language is Finnish, the product has English language, the Finnish localization is not == you have an empty context.
