Doctor Web, Ltd. a Russian IT-security solutions developer announces release of new versions of Dr.Web products for Unix (Linux/FreeBSD/OpenBSD/Solaris(x86))

The main difference from the previous versions is an extended functionality of tne new anti-virus engine. In particular, the new version supports Origins Tracing technology that utilizes a unique algorithm of non-signature detection of malware and is used as an addition to a traditional signature-based scan and Dr.Web heuristic analyzer to increase detection rate. Number of supported archivers and packers has signifficantly increased. Extended functionality doesn't make scanning slower, on the contrary, it has become much faster.



All the solutions comply with a reverse compatibility principle and can work both with 4.44 engine but also with a previous version of the engine. So a system administrator can choose system components he wants to update.


The new server versions of products support the Dr.Web Control Agent module that allows them to integrate with Dr.Web Enterprise Suite 4.44 which will be released in the near future. Integration provides centralized management of protection servers and receiving easy-to-read server reports. A testing verion of Dr.Web Enterprise Suite 4.44 can be downloaded here


Dr.Web for Unix Internet Gateway is a solution used to check for viruses traffic going through HTTP and FTP protocols through an enterprise Internet gateway – a proxy server which is typically used to provide access to the Internet for intranet users. Dr.Web for Unix Internet Gateway provides protection from malware and reduces Internet traffic.
