I had Dr. Web set to run a complete scan at 1am today. When I got up at 5.30, it was still running and hadn't even got half way. So a couple of questions.

1) Why such a slow scanning speed? I don't have an inordinately large amount of data.

2) How do I create a custom scan to run at a certain time?

3) How do I set up a custom scan to scan only some directories and exclude some others? It seems that I can only choose for one directory to custom scan, as opposed to me be able to scan My Pictures and My Downloads, but not My Music (for example). I can only choose either the entire user profile folder, or one sub-folder.

I am aware that it has been posted here that you only need to do a complete scan one, but at this dire scanning speed it seems like it would take days!

Thanks.

Scanning speed is depends on some variables like cpu speed, hdd size, data amount etc..

You can use windows build in Scheduler, for more information and clues how to do it please see this message.

You can use scanner's exclusion feature, please add which folder you want to exclude and it is done.

Hello,

Following on from what drumut has said, you can also exclude certain files and folders from being scanned, by opening the scanner> settings> change settings.

On demand scans are really a waste of computer resources, as your antivirus is continually scanning in the background. I never run an on-demand scan, the only time i do is when i first install the programme. Better to run an on-demand scan with an antispyware programme such as Malwarebytes or Superantispyware.

Weekly or montly on-demand scans are really important, i use hitman pro since they include dr.web scanning engine in their cloud. MBAM and SAS are good recommodations for on-demands.

I've run various scans, with various folders excluded, however Dr. Web has so far failed to scan over 50% of my system despite the scan running for over 8 hours. I am running a system that exceeds by far the minimum requirements for Dr. Web, and can only come to the conclusion that Dr. Web has a system scan. I've found plenty of reports online of Dr. Web's slow scanning speed - is this an issue that is going to be addressed?

Thanks.

I'm not sure, but if i remember correctly there was some discussion in the Russian part of this forum(google translate ;))that a new scan engine or new scanner would be released in autumn. Maybe someone from the staff can confirm or correct this.
