I remember it was disabled in 4.44 by default, but enabled in v5.
Is the real-time protection any faster or lighter if I have it disabled? Do I lose any protection if I have it disabled? Has there been some changes in the engine or why the change from disabled to enabled?
Thank you.

Hey risl,Hello,
I remember it was disabled in 4.44 by default, but enabled in v5.
Is the real-time protection any faster or lighter if I have it disabled? Do I lose any protection if I have it disabled? Has there been some changes in the engine or why the change from disabled to enabled?
Thank you.
as far as im aware, the enhanced protection mode does not even run until the computer is idle for X amount of time (at least, thats what i have always thought) , you will not notice any difference with it being enabled, so why have it disabled?, same reason for the http scanner, even though i know you dont have this feature, it does not alter computer performance in ANY way, trust me, so leave it all enabled. http://forum.drweb.com/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.png
the E.P mode has saved me in the past, when i was playing with things i shouldn't be doing, files i thought i had removed properly, turned up in the E.P mode.
as for it originally being disabled, the default settings most likely have been changed a few times since first releases.
but im sure the staff members will come in and answer you (or Borka, he's lurking around)

Yes it does. Slightly. Is the real-time protection any faster or lighter if I have it disabled?
You do, in theory, but VERY slightly. Practically you don't.Do I lose any protection if I have it disabled?
My personal advice - try both options and if you feel on your comp that real-time protection is faster without Enhanced Protection - turn the EP off.
