Hello all,

I'm really hoping someone here can help me...I'm losing the will to live!

Anyways I have downloaded the free live cd from the link elsewhere and I burned the .iso file on to a cd. I shut down and turned off, then when the pc was rebooting I went into setup and set CD-ROM to be the priority boot source or provider or what have you. But when I saved and exited and the PC rebooted it started reading the CD but soon stopped and booted as normal.

So, I went back into setup and set all the Boot priorities to be CD-ROM but then it said there was no boot disk present etc.

I tried the same steps having copied all the downloaded files, the .iso, the md5sum file and the various folders titled with a long series of numbers, but still no joy.

Am I missing something? Should the md5sum file have a file type after it? Is there another step I need to do in the BIOS settings to make it boot from cd. Am I not copying the right files to CD?

I'm really after some help and hope someone can help me out here...

should write a bot CD
for this, I use UltraISO, she knows what to do
your problem, insert the CD into the drive and click Start

I just used the standard windows cd burning tool? Copied the file to the E: drive and burnt it.

Guessing that is not right??

You must use any program which can burn iso-file as disk image but not a file.

I know I will sound like a complete idiot, but could you suggest a couple and I can hopefully download them?? I only have a program called Record Now which is also capable of burning to CD....

Apart from Media Player and iTunes of course...

Unfortunely I don't know freeware programs. Look this:

You could use InfraRecorder (it's free and portable). It's one of my favorite programs, I burn CDs with it all the time.
Just click on Write Image and select the .iso file that you have downloaded and than OK. That's all.

About the best freeware iso burner I use is Imgburn. http://www.imgburn.com

It is has a simple interface and does the trick.

Thank you all very much for your help - it's really appreciated.

But! I seem to have another problem now.... I started a 'full scan' and sat with it for 10 minutes or so, during that time the screen went off but the computer kept working, I moved the mouse and it came back on as normal, no worries.

I left it and came back an hour or so later and the screen was off again, but it was completely unresponsive to any mouse movements or me pressing any buttons on the keyboard. I left it overnight but still the same this morning. My only option was to hold down the power button and go back into Web Live... I started another scan and came back half an hour later to find the same thing.

I've had a look through options but can't find anything to stop it going into hibernation...

Can anyone help?? If that just means the scan is finished then great, but I'd like to know what it finds...

Any help again would be well appreciated!!!

Well, you can enter Dr.Web LiveCD (Safe mode). When you enter Safe mode, update Dr.Web bases and start Shell. Then enter

Will that just stop it going into a sleep mode then? And I can just start a scan from there too?

When you enter that command you will start scan and it will automatically clean you computer from viruses. I think that computer won't go into sleep mode.

It will work without "-fm" key. Instead of this key use "-al" key or simply remove "-fm" key from command line.

Seems to me "-fm" key is obsolete.

Edit: Sorry Borka, I haven't seen your message about -al and -fm key.
