Hi Dr.Web Community

hope you all are well.

well i have a question about Data loss protection in DrWeb,  its clear when we infect with a ransomware for example locky or i dont know something like ctb locker

this Data loss protection can be very helpfull.

But my question is: what if we face to something like Petya ransomware? our harddrive encrypted and we cannot boot to use Dr.Web Archive safe & secure Copies?

the real question here is are these copies ( DrWeb Archive file ) will save in DrWeb cloud too? lets bring an example , i am infected with Petya ransomware, so i have no choice but reinstalling windows or using an image backup, well i did it, i reinstall my DrWeb activate it , what then? can i still restore the files which secured in my past infected windows?

hope you underestand what i'm trying to ask and i'm sorry for my not real good english ;)

Regards,Parham

Now we detect Petya ransomware. No, we don't save user's backup data in Cloud. Remember, that DLP can't be used instead of regular backup! If you have an image - you're lucky!

hmm yes i know of course Petya is in DrWeb's database, it was just an example

yes its make sense becuase if DrWeb was saving backups in the cloud should put some limitation like Norton i guess they have 25gb limitation for cloud backup

but DrWeb backups are unlimited and + image backup are great protections B)
