I'm a new Dr. Web user (installed yesterday). The Firefox link extension doesn't ever install - ever time you open it, it prompts for install but there is no extra extension in FF. After a restart it still prompts. Am using FF 3.6.8.

Aside from that I'm quite happy with Dr. Web so far - lets hope this continues! http://forum.drweb.com/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.png

Welcome to Dr.Web forums Sherlock, i will be helping you with your firefox related problem please follow steps below.

• Go to this link and download and install link checker extension manually
• Restart firefox and please open extension manager of firefox
• If you don't want to use it and if it causes problems like that please disable it in extension manager window.

• Go to this link and download and install link checker extension manually

No joy - it appears to install until you restart FF and then nothing. If you go to the add-ons manager in FF, it now always asks for a restart saying that the Dr Web extension will be installed after the restart is complete. It never installs - and I'm still stuck with the original installation screen on opening FF too.

2-) Install new extension from this link
3-) Restart firefox

Yes.

Firstly, the Dr. Web product never installed, so I cannot un-install it.
Secondly, the installation seemed to work, but when I reopened FF it still tells me I need to restart. It also still tried to install the Dr. Web add on that comes with the suite.

please Just install the addon and disable it in extension manager if you don't want to use it. At this point do you get any restart warning etc..

I sense there is some misunderstanding here. I cannot install the add-on. If I cannot install it, I cannot uninstall it. Neither the web add-on nor the suite add-on will install at any point. I cannot stop Firefox from prompting me to install the suite add-on everytime I start it, either.

You need to reset your firefox extension manager, please follow these steps.

• First shutdown Firefox
• Go to your firefox profile folder and find these files and first backup them to another location then you can delete them so you would reset extension manager. If anything goes wrong please restore your backups to original location.

  • extensions.cache
• Start Firefox

Please post back your progress.

So I have to delete all my extensions just to get the Dr Web extension to work?

No You don't have to delete any extension, this is a workout, locate-backup-delete those files, if you solve the problem voila if not you can recover your backups and we will continue to figure it out.

Those files are not main extension files, when you restart firefox after deletion of those files, firefox will create them again.

There is nothing wrong with dr.web nor dr.web firefox extension. This can happens with different programs too.

Delete the file dr.web_anti-virus_link_checker-1.0.22-tb + fx + mz.xpi from the directory %ProgramFiles%\Mozilla Firefox\extensions\

I had same problem after installing DrWeb under Windows 7.. Firefox simply can't install it correctly when run in normal mode.. Try run FireFox in administrator modefor .. It need do once for plugin installation..
