OS: Vista Ultimate 32bit

Sometimes (that means 1 out of 6-7 startup attempts) spoolsv.exe crashes on startup. It's the process in system32 folder that helps me prints files.

It isn't very important, but I think it is related to Dr.Web guard and thought it would be good to mention.
It happens after Dr.Web installation and I thought the file was corrupt or infected, but it is ok.

After unchecking "Scan Startup files" the problem does not seem to occur :)

"WerFault.exe terminates process spoolsv.exe", u know the default way of windows terminating a process if it gets stuck, nothing unusual.

If I then try to start spoolsv.exe manually from system32 folder, no prob at all. So it is only a startup issue.

I've read somewhere (don't remember where though :( ), that the exact thing used to happen with McAfee guard in the past. On startup it would check on a certain spoolsv.exe driver file REPEATEDLY, causing SOMETIMES spoolsv.exe to crash.

If there is a way you can check what driver, dll or any other files are scanned when spoolsv.exe is being loaded, it would be good :)

I did some workaround and I think the problems lies somewhere between an overloaded startup (with many progs and services) and a HP driver, not necceserily bad driver, but one that pushes spoolsv.exe a bit too far in memory.

I "lightened" my system a bit and haven't had the issue for about 30 reboots now, even with "Scan startup files" checked.

Other than that you'd be glad to hear I purchased a 1 year license today after 2 weeks of trial. The thing is light as a feather, the updates are frequent and fast, the scanner good and I wouldn't change that for sth else :)

Probably best AV I ever trialled. I read you are working on a new 5 version. I only have to say this:
FOR THE LOVE OF THE GREEN SPIDER, KEEP THE SPIDER LOGO AND DON'T BECOME BLOATED LIKE OTHER AVs DID!
That doesn't mean that you should not add new features, I'm sure you know what I mean :)
Simplicity is luxury!

Best regards!
