Hello drumut,

I did that already yesterday: Anton Ivanov was so kind to provide me with a 5.0.3 pre-release image.
As it turns out, the 5.0.3 image that had been officially released today is identical, so my workaround still applies.

Unless you've done so already: see my bugnotes to #39733.

Is is also the same as the 5.0.3 that was given to you by that fellow?

Essentially, yes, though 5.0.3 runs without problems on a lot more systems than 5.0.2 did; a definite improvement.
If it doesn't on yours, use my workaround.

Yes, it's the latest build mentioned in bugs #39032 and #39733.
Anyway, we'll see another LiveCD release with the issue fixed pretty soon.

i am having the same issue on my machine boots to desktop very dark screen and cant use mouse or keyboard do i just try your workaround karl?

Hi ceet12,

I posted my workaround about a year ago. So, with the current version, it may or may not work.
In principle, it should work (the X server hasn't changed very much).
Besides mouse and keyboard stuck: what worries me more is that your screen stays blank/black/dark.
What video card do you have? Is it a fairly new model?

P.S.: PS/2 or USB mouse shouldn't matter. Yet, if you can, try a PS/2 mouse.

It'll give you instructions for using my script wfakx (I uploaded it to that bug once).
Use it to take a copy of the X server log file.

the video card im using is around 2-3 years old, i have no propblemw with the card genuinly loading into windows, im just goin to try your fixgui now and as serg said use a ps2 mouse, come to think of it my mouse is a usb?

please try to take a copy of the X server log file (see my previous post) and upload it here so I may have a look.

Hello all,

I have a workaround for this issue:

• Unzip the uploaded archive to a USB stick partition formatted with FAT file system.
• Boot LiveCD in Safe Mode.
• Use "Start Shell" to enter a subshell.
• Insert USB stick and wait for some seconds (so it gets automounted).
• Enter the following command:

  sh /mnt/disk/sd*/fixgui

• Press <Ctrl+D> to leave the subshell.
• Use "Start Xorg".

Now, the GUI should come up with working keyboard and mouse.
Check this by moving the mouse.

Hi karl just noticed i dont see to have the start xorg command, i only have xorg configuartion? once issuing the command do i just load graphics mode?

Hmm... ...as I told you: the workaround is a roughly a year old.
Seems that I have to try a recent LiveCD image myself to see what has changed.
BTW: You did use LiveCD, didn't you?

Could you please tell me what you did instead of the "start xorg" step?

today, I found the time to actually try the recent LiveCD 6.0.0 (released May) and I guess my workaround isn't necessary anymore.

Instead, I suggest you try the following approach when experiencing this problem:

• Boot with LiveCD.
• Choose "Dr.Web LiveCD (Advanced)" from primary boot menu.
• Choose "Safe Mode" from advanced menu (it looks similar to a row of buttons). After a while, the safe mode menu should appear.
• Choose "Xorg configuration" from safe mode menu.
• Within the Xorg configuration dialog,
  • choose VESA video driver (which should work on any video card) and
  • if you experienced mouse problems, change from "AutoMouse" to your particular style of mouse, then
  • hit "OK".
• Choose "Graphics Mode" from safe mode menu.

Now, the GUI session should come up succesfully (albeit slowly) and you should be able to move the mouse.

Could you please try that approach (none of my computers have the problem) and confirm that it works?
