Hi Team,
This is regarding the false detection of Universal Driver Updater by Dr.Web Antivirus.
Universal Driver Updater is a driver updater utility. It is not an unwanted application. User can update system driver using this utility.

This software does not contains adware, installs toolbars, hijack browsers or has other unclear objectives.

It is not involved in any kind of malicious activities.
Please have this detection removed ASAP.

IMHO, it IS unwanted application. Drivers should be updated manually, from official sites of hardware vendors/manufacturers. As a rule, if everything works OK, updating is not obligatory. Moreover, sometimes "very new" drivers may cause system malfunction.

Everything can be done manually on any computer system in this world, So according to you there is no need of any kind of utility on any computer system.

Universal Driver Updater backups existing drivers so that user can revert the drivers in case drivers cause any system malfunction.

 

Do you have any idea about what is a PUP detection and where it comes from?

What i know about PUP detection that it is defined by McAfee and followed by others.
PUPs:-
McAfee, a security company, coined the phrase "potentially unwanted program" to refer to a class of applications that may consist of adware, spyware and special programs and come bundled with other software.

 

Universal Driver Updater does not meet the definition of a PUP Detection.

If you are so honest then why you have developed Dr.Web Anti-virus for Mac and Linux. There is no need of any kind of antivirus on these platform because these operating systems are already secured. your application is also unwanted there as well.

I am not here to convince anyone and it is not about what is good or bad you have already done or will do for me.

it is about that the detection of Universal Driver Updater is a false positive or not.

Developers of unwanted software/adware always insist that their software shouldn't be detected by AVs.
