We are having major issues with Dr. Web 5.0 antivirus on Windows 7, 32 bit. We have been testing the product for weeks now, on many different platforms - i'm posting this information in hopes that there may be an answer out there somewhere on what to do to fix! Note these aren't the only test systems we've tried but are the most notable!

Scenario #1 : ECS GF8200A motherboard (nvidia chipset) with GeForce GT240 PCI-E video card, AMD Quadcore 9350e CPU, 4g memory, dual 500gb Western Digital SATA hard drives in RAID 1 configuration (using NVIDIA onboard raid). Windows 7, 32bit OS with UAC disabled. Upon installing Dr. Web antivirus, we get blue screen 'PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA' # 0x00000050 as soon as the 'express scan' tries to begin starting during installation. The system then reboots and we can log into windows but will find that either the self protection or spider guard will have a red "X" on it. Uninstalling the product works, but once again when reinstalling the same process starts all over in an endless cycle, no other antivirus (tested Kaspersky and Symantec Endpoint Protection) or applications on this machine are having any issues.

Scenario #2 : ECS NFORCE9M-A motherboard (nvidia chipset) with GeForce 7100 PCI-E video card, AMD Dualcore X2 CPU, 2g memory, single 1tb Western Digital SATA hard drive (no raid). Windows 7 Professional, 32 bit OS with User Account Control (UAC) disabled. Upon installing Dr. Web the install completes, we reboot and get back into windows, all appears ok, UNTIL you double-click the 'Dr. Web Scanner' icon on the desktop to launch a scan - then blue screen, one of two, the traditional "PAGE_FAULT" 0x00000050 as listed in scenario #1 and sometimes a 'IRQL_NOT_LESS OR EQUAL'. Uninstallation of the Dr. Web corrects all problems. Once again, this system is stable with other A/V products and is having no lockups or blue screens with any other applications.

Scenario #3 : Intel 845 motherboard (intel chipset) with onboard Intel 845 graphics, Intel Dualcore Core2 CPU, 2gb memory, single 500gb Western Digital SATA hard drive (no raid). Windows 7 professional, 32 bit OS with User Account Control (UAC) disabled. Upon installing Dr. Web the install completes, we reboot and life is good... Then we upgrade the video to a 3rd party PNY PCI-E video card with nvidia chipset (7800 series) - install the latest drivers from nvidia (auto detected) and reboot. About 1/2 way through startup, blue screen of death (BSOD) 'PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA', machine reboots and 1/2 way through again, same blue screen, we are now stuck in a reboot loop. It is resolved quickly by removing the nvidia pci-express video card and allowing the intel onboard video to take over...

There appears to be a huge conflict in systems containing EITHER a motherboard with nvidia chipsets OR video cards containing nvidia chipsets. In further testing, it *does not* appear to be the latest drivers from nvidia causing the issues either. On a completely fresh install of Win 7 32bit we still experience the PAGE_FAULT 0x00000050 upon install of Dr. Web, even before loading chipset drivers or any windowsupdates. Furthermore, we are *not*, so far, seeing this issue with Windows XP and nvidia, testing has been good on XP.

We are also noting that on systems not containing Nvidia chipset(s) - the product appears to work great with no real issues to report on Windows XP or Windows 7.

Dr. Web developers... Any ideas?? This is a huge conflict - Windows 7 with Nvidia - please help!!

Hello.
Problems with falling of systems on chipsets Nvidia are solved in beta versions.
http://forum.drweb.com/index.php?showtopic...st&p=369024
You can test the beta version absolutely free of charge or to wait till March 2010. At this time the new release is planned.

I have looked on the beta download site and only see the files updated on 1-22-2010 - i went ahead and downloaded it anyways "drweb-500-win-space-beta-x86.exe", removed the old broken dr.web, rebooted and attempted install of the beta - it does the same thing, BSOD on install with the 0x00000050 - i don't think this is the latest beta though, since the file date shows 1-22-2010 and the notes you refer to in the quote above refer to 2-09-2010 - where can i obtain the latest beta? Do you have a direct link or FTP address with beta versions?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I removed any traces of old versions, including the beta i was messing with this morning, rebooted... reinstalled the beta in 'custom' mode as you outlined above and did indeed see the product patches being downloaded. As soon as the express scan went to fire off, the famous blue screen "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA" 0x00000050 returned. In the release notes for 2-9-2010 i see the Nvidia RAID issue was addressed, but as noted in the scenario #3 from my original post (above) there are issues with simply having an Nvidia video card! I believe there is still an issue with Nvidia systems - as this is still occuring on multiple computers, including all of the machines i listed above ;)

It seems that the issue is not fixed by now ;).
Developers say that an improved scanner is on inner testing and will be available in public beta in a few days.
Until that you can run Dr. Web Scanner with Command Line Switch /not_use_shield -- drweb32w.exe /not_use_shield

Crash dumps will be very useful for developers. Pls look here how to config kernel dump storage in windows 7 http://blogs.msdn.com/wer/archive/2009/02/...-windows-7.aspx

Pls attach here zipped minidumps from different scenarios and collect kernel dumps, we will discuss in PM where you may upload them or where we can download.

I'm afraid my advice is not suitable for Scenario #1 - you can use Dr. Web Scanner with Command Line Switches only after Dr. Web has been installed. :D

We do not use bitlocker at all and windows firewall services are disabled in startup services. They are not running at all.

Memory dump (kernel) is available - PM me for link to get it!

Thanks

Note: this issue is also occuring with the Dr. Web Cure-It! scanner. Obviously since it uses the same scan engine. Just an FYI.

As of the 2/15/2010 release, we are still experiencing the blue screen of death "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" 0x000000D1 upon installation. The stand alone BETA scanner (cure it) does run without issue, but when installing the antivirus product this blue screen still comes up on both my custom built desktop and Dell laptop. I have uploaded the minidumps to Nikolay Yaroslavcev in support - but am really hoping for resolution to this issue soon! Any ideas when a fix may be made available? PM me for links to download minidumps, should you need them.
Thank you.

UPDATE : The new installer released 2/25/2010 does work better, i was able to install the product on my Dell laptop and on one of my GF8200 desktops with no trouble. HOWEVER, the Dell Optiplex 755 still blue screens when the nvidia video card is installed and one of the other GF8200 machines still blue screens, not on install though as before, it only does it after the scanner has been launched a few times - which is an improvement ;).

Dump files are available - PM me for links to them.

Thanks,
mg
