I have an internet connection but my Dr. Web Light fails to update the virus definitions. When I try and click update it says Error. Please check your internet connection.

Hmm... Looks like update servers blocked. Really strange. Are you use last version of Dr.Web Light (10.3.0.201702270)? If not, try to update it.

my brother's android have the Light version and that is updating normaly too.

Never mind - I was able to update through Apple and it updated the definitions too! Thanks so much!!
