Doctor Web—a Russian developer of IT security software—unveils an update for commercial and free versions of Dr.Web anti-virus for Android (Dr.Web for Android Anti-virus + Anti-spam and Dr.Web for Android Light). Now the product features an improved engine and supports the new versions of Android.

Dr.Web for Android has received an upgraded engine that supports the unique non-signature detection technology Origins Tracing ™. Now all versions of the anti-virus can detect malicious programs that haven't been registered in the virus databases. This technology also enables to optimize the Dr.Web virus database for Android and reduce the number of virus entries without losing the quality of protection.

The update significantly expands the list of supported Android versions. Now the product runs without a hitch under Android 2.3, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 and therefore can be used with tablet PCs. Besides, Italian interface is now available.

The changes also affected the settings window appearance when using Dr.Web for Android on tablet PCs (under Android 3.0 and above), as well as the program's licensing routines. In addition, known errors that led to the program crash or its malfunctioning have been corrected.

Dr.Web for Android and Dr.Web for Android Light will be updated automatically. However, if automatic updating is disabled, go to the Android Market, select Dr.Web for Android or Dr.Web for Android Light from the list of applications and click on the Update button.

In order to update via Doctor Web’s site you need to download a new distribution file.

The updated versions of this product are also available in other e-stores.
