VirusTotal is a service that analyzes suspicious files and facilitates the quick detection of viruses, worms, trojans, and all kinds of malware detected by antivirus engines.

Why you should use this service?
- Dr.Web support team, moderators, administrators and other expert members can request virustotal results from you.
- When you send a suspious file to dr.web, it would be very helpfull to send file's virustotal permalink.
How to upload virus samples to virustotal
When you open virustotal homepage you would see main screen, please follow these steps.

- Under Upload a file section, please click Browse button
- Please choose which file you want to upload from your computer to virus total server with browse window
- Please click Send File button
At this stage, if anybody has sent this file to virustotal before. You will see a screen like below. You can copy that permalink and send it to where requested from you.

If It is the first scan of that file, you will be redirected to scanning page, at this page several security applications would scan the file and after a little time later you would see results summary like in picture and there will be a list which security softwares detect it under that summary. You can copy and paste this screen to your posts or you can go to address bar of your browser and you can copy the permalink of that scan.

P.S.: I use Virus.Win64.Rugrat for sample test, it is the first detected windows 64 bit OS virus in 2004, dr.web detects it as Shrug because it is known as the author name of this malware.
